Day 10! I can’t believe it!!
Today was a pretty chill walking day. It was 21km but I forgot to start my watch until after my first break so I was already and hour and a bit in.
Today was a bit foggy and overcast in the morning, which I actually appreciated because around noon the sun came out and it was quite warm. I got an early start in at 7 and made good time, so when it got warmer I only had about 6k to go.
I walked mostly next to wine vineyards today and you could see all the grapes growing. I took a picture of a group of ladies, and when I asked where they were from one was from Vancouver, and turns out she grew up in Port Moody!! We talked about how much we like the poco trail and she even knew where Carney is. I did not think I would find someone on the Camino who knew what or where Port Coquitlam is!
I was a bit sad because many of the friends I made along the trip are now one stage behind me because I took the bus yesterday. But luckily as I was checking into my hostel I met two guys and they invited me to dinner with their big group they had formed over the Camino. They even sang happy birthday to me when they found out I just turned 23!
There are a lot of festivals happening in Spain right now, I think due to the holiday yesterday and general August festivals. Today we checked out the one in this town and I finally got to see the lights on, I have walked past so many of these light displays during the daytime and haven’t been out at night to see them!
We only have 2 days left, and 44km. I started seeing road signs today for Santiago. The trails are much busier now that we are in the final 100km, and now the central and coastal routes have merged together. The morning was crowded on the trail, but by the afternoon there was more distance and people spaced out. In the beginning of the day I could see so many pilgrims in front and behind me, which is so different from parts of the coastal where I wouldn’t see another pilgrim for a couple hours. I don’t like it as much when it is so crowded but it’s just a sign we are near the end!

Buen Camino!!
